SLOW FOOD ORVIETO – “Il Piacere dell’Orto”
On the occasion of Umbria Folk Festival, the Slow Food will be present in Orvieto Piazza Gualtiero August 21 to 23, with the event “The Pleasure of the Garden”. A space laboratory dedicated to the flavors of the earth, but also the knowledge of the ancient wisdom handed down by our grandparents from the garden. A space completely dedicated to the garden, run in collaboration with the operators of Oasis Agricultural Cooperative, made possible thanks to the participation of numerous producers and local farms: Agricultural Janas (flour, durum wheat pasta, bread, jams, olive oil), Poggio of the Brooms (jams), The Merlaio (cookies, cakes, olive oil, saffron), Oasis Farm (vegetables and canned), Orto Sapiens (preserves, jams, soaps), Serra Cornflower (plants), Pacioni Constantine (vegetables).
Also contribute to the event the kindergarten Ciconia, already engaged in educational activities of Slow Food Educa, with the project “Orto in Condotta,” the FAI - Italian Environment Fund under the project for the construction of a “Medieval Garden” and the Association of the District of Orvieto.
The goal of the event is to spread the idea of the practice of the garden as a tool for food and environmental education, but also as a social and cultural aggregator between the old and new generations. The garden intended as a tool to know the area, its products and its recipes, but also an opportunity to meet with expert craftsmen and manufacturers of the local community.
Every day from 18 you will be able to perform educational activities, sensory experiences and games for children, cultivate a true garden in the square and build a garden in your pocket. All activities are aimed at a wide audience from the smallest (min 2 years).
The participation fee is € 5 and includes the garden pocket, the didactic and vegetables to finish the snack from the garden.
