The typical products and cuisine of Piemonte

Piemonte is rich in local products, ie those products that have been awarded by the European Union quality marks PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indication). The PDO is a mark of quality that have those foods whose quality depends on the area in which they are produced. The IGP is a mark of quality pr those agricultural and food products whose quality is linked to a geographical area and the area of production and / or processing precise.

In Piemonte we find also other characteristic products that make exquisite and unique cuisine. Regional recipes are made unique by the use of some characteristic products, such as truffles, Barbera or Barolo and cheese. Risotto and pasta are often enhanced by truffle, such as ravioli del Plin with truffle, boiled meat as braised in Barolo and Barbera or the res in Cagnon (risotto with melted cheese).
